Hailed as one of the most prodigious guitarists of his generation and “highest category of improvising musicians" (New Yorker), Julian Lage has spent more than a decade searching through the myriad strains of American musical history via impeccable technique, free association and a spirit of infinite possibility. The California-born New York-based musician boasts a prolific resume on his own accord in addition to collaborating with Gary Burton and John Zorn, as well as duo projects with Nels Cline, Chris Eldridge and Fred Hersch, among others.

No importa cuanto tiempo pase siempre hay que volver a ver esta intro
I. Do. Not. Get. Jazz. 😖 Its just a jumbled load of chords & notes without a solid rhythm or home. Sure they're great musicians, but why. freekin. jazz??? Its like throwing a handful of every color of paint you can find at a canvas...in the end it looks like 💩 every time! I guess someone somewhere appreciates sh!t no matter how much it reeks! Someone plz enlighten me to what jazz is appreciated for!! I'm a musician btw...an I can't comprehend a human enjoying jazz.😭
Three men. Masters of their craft.
When I first got into this album its all I listened to for two weeks...Other guitarists have told me the same.
Hear Jazz, Soul, Country, Surf.....unique voice
That is a happy tele
How to have fun practicing
Traduci il testo con la fotocamera I tried not to click "like" but I couldn't...
This musician sounds AMAZING 😎🎸
Thank you. Makes me want to buy a tele. What model are you playing on?
Very nice. Your performance and tone is so great, interesting that at times it sounds like you are using an envelope filter!❤
P90 in the neck? Slick!
I've never been more inspired by a musician in my life, grateful to live in the same time that you are making music that makes me want to strive for more expressive writing 🙏
Like it! 🤓🥳🤘
This is one of the most tasteful guitar parts I ever heard!
Jorge Roeder kills it!!
Way to go Julian!
Amazing musician
Glad Paul had him on the channel recently; slightly outside my usual genre, but excellent nonetheless. 👍 Seems to have an inspirational outlook on the instrument that I can really appreciate.
Great stuff
Air Proofing Two, please!
Please finish this song! Record it and publish for us, it is amazing and an essential of your works. Very needed to your discography! Thank you for your art and please keep sharing it! God bless.
silly clown music
Sounds annoyingly good 2:55 - whole track does really... How does one get this good?
One of my favorites!
Expiration from malnourishment is not far off.
You, Joey Landreth and John Scofield are 3 of my favorite players and all 3 of you have an odd rythmic feel.
Ever have something completely unexpected happen in your day that brings you pure joy? Well, short just did. What a blessing. Thanks, Julian.
You simultaneously make me want to play the guitar and quit the guitar.
Most interesting of all pickers. NUMINOUS
Legend Lage 👍🏆 (as Jazz slowly rises from the bottom if my dusty music genre list of 50years 😄)
Such a beautiful tune, truly!
Incredible.....
Inspired by "Sunny side of the street"?
Mind blowing
In a world with many great guitarists, Julian’s artistry always brings a smile to my face.
Julian will tell you that he has far from perfect pitch but he is very intelligent and considerate. He clearly had a lot of support, encouragement, and practice growing up. If he plays a “clam” note he’ll make it sound good by leaning into it. He takes risks and is interested in how those risks resolve, most of the time he says he doesn’t know what he’s doing. It is like the butcher in Chinese philosophy: when the butcher is learning he has to move slow and think about it, over time he can let the muscle memory and knife take over and the work becomes a pure, joyful flow. That is what Julian is experiencing, you can tell from all the smiling.
I watch this video- “oh I should learn the guitar.” Then I watch this video again- “oh I should quit the guitar.”
amazing brother
Keith Jarrett on guitar
Bravery and freedom have always been inherent elements of jazz that differentiate it from other genres of music. 🕊️ Sonny Rollins
He plays the acoustic in all the ways people always say you can't or shouldn't and it's wondrous. 🎉
Magical
Perfect rhythm makes his playing shine
So you don't need a 175 to play chord melody jazz guitar, this would make Joe Pass stop, look up & listen!!
Lage is very much like Jim Hall. I like Jim Hall way better than Joe Pass anyways.
So awesome!! 😳
Is julian finally married!
Two thumbs way up
Not jazz.
World's Fair ❤❤❤
